Celebrate Serendipity Day – August 18th

Celebrate Serendipity Day today! So, today is about getting out there and appreciating unexpecting things. Are you ready to notice things around you?

Celebrate Serendipity Day

In the first place, this word was first used by the English Author, Horace Walpole in 1754. So, Horace used this term in a letter to his girlfriend.

The Three Princes of Serendip – New Tellings of Old Tales for Everyone

Horace explained that the word he found was inspired by the Persian novel “The Three Princes of Serendip”.

In this story, three princes were banished from the Kingdom of Serendip. While they were embarking on their journey; they discovered the unexpected.

To be inspired and look at things from a different perspective; I recommend reading this story.

Serendipity Leads to Discovering New Things

When it comes to discovering new things or having something unexpected occur; there are ways to look at these things. Though this word has been around since the mid-1700s, it wasn’t recognized until close to 2010.

Meanwhile, the meaning of this word typically means things that happen by chance. Hence, this also could mean things that happen by accident.

Serendipity refers to the capacity to make intriguing discoveries by chance. For example, do something different.

When you are doing something nice or volunteering your time; you are making strides in creating new opportunities. Check out my Celebrate Kindness Day post for tips on doing things differently.

And, if you live in New York or Seattle, Washington; you can visit a Serendipity Cafe or the Serenclipity Coffee Company in London, England.

Serendipity

In the crowds in New York City, two strangers meet. After having one of the most incredible nights of their lives; they decide to leave it up in the air.

They live on different coasts and part ways. So, they part ways and leave it to fate if they will be together in 2 years. And, they both end up engaged; to other people.

But, their encounter from 2 years ago, still lingers.

Do they find fate?
