April is the month to celebrate National Social Security. Meanwhile, if you’re unfamiliar with the importance of this month; today’s post will navigate you through the benefits and services available.
National Social Security Month
In the first place, this month is dedicated to educate you about the services available to you. At the same time, this year’s focus is on the “Promise of Economic Security for the Nation’s People”.
Do you Need a New Card?
If you lost or misplaced your card, no worries. Hence, you can apply now for a new card on-line. Indeed, you may need a card for a number of reasons. First and foremost, a social security card is needed for:
- Opening a bank account
- Birth of a Child
- Drivers license
- Employment verification
- Government benefit program
- Mortgage or loan process application
- Name change due to divorce or marriage
- Passport
Create a Social Security Account
So, are you ready to create an Account? To create an account, you will need:
- To be at least 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid United States address
- You must have a social security number
- You must have a valid email address
By creating an account, you will be able to see how much you have earned as well as see if you have enough credits to retire. Additionally, your account will let you know the status of any claims you have, such as disability. Now, that you have created your account, you will be on your way to receiving accurate information when you’re ready to retire.
Protection
Indeed, it is important to take control of your information. With this in mind, make sure you visit my Rising Identity Theft Issues post. After all, cyber criminals are looking for ways to steal identities. In essence, the cyber security program works to safeguard your information.
If your account or information has been stolen, it is important to block it right away. You can use the Block Electronic Access to prevent anyone from seeing or changing your information. Hence, once this is set up, you won’t be able to access your information either.
Social Security Services
Indeed, there are many services available to both businesses and individuals. If you own a business, you can use Business Services Online for various wage and other related services related to your business. Additionally, the office is in place to help you when you’re ready to retire. Moreover, the office helps with disability as well as elderly services.
As always, I welcome your comments.
Happy National Social Security Month!
