New England Patriots Season Preview 2018

Are you ready for the New England Patriots season to start? Since 2001, the Patriots have won the division every year other than two times. So, what’s in store for this season?

New England Patriots Season Preview

With the regular season set to begin this Sunday, September 9th; how will this team play after last year’s Super Bowl loss? To read more about last year’s Super Bowl, check-out my New England Patriots Super Bowl LII Loss post.

Now, Patriot’s nation is ready to turn the page. Since there were a lot of coaching changes during the off-season; one thing remains the same – both Bill Belichick and Tom Brady will be back at the helm. At the same time, it is important to note that Rob Gronkowski put off retiring from the NFL and is back with the Pats.

No doubt, one of the biggest weaknesses last year was the Patriots defense. There has been a lot of moves in the off-season that should be an uptick for the defense this year. So, New England acquired Adrian Clayborn who had a career high of 9.5 sacks last season. However, the Patriots know Clayborn will also be versatile on the defensive line. With Clayborn on the line, this may help other players, such as Deatrich Wise and Derek Rivers. If this happens, we can expect good things for the Patriots this season.

Also, there has been a lot of talk about the Patriots lacking with their receivers. However, Julian Edelman will be back after his four game suspension. And, both Endelman and Brady have developed a good relationship that should factor into this, when he returns.

In addition, the Patriots are strong with their tailback players. With the Patriots winning 3 out of 4 of their pre-games, that record will hopefully carry into the regular season.

New England Patriots Season Prediction

Since 2009, the Patriots have won the AFC East every year. And, even with other teams in the AFC East making a lot of moves, this year should be no exception.

Indeed, there are many that think the Miami Dolphins will give the Patriots trouble this season. And, many have predicted the Patriots record to be 11 – 5. In my opinion, the Patriots season will probably end up being 12 – 4.

Prior to training camp, I made a bet with a close friend. He thinks the Patriots won’t even make the playoffs and of course, I think they will once again win their division. Our bet is the winner gets a cocktail of their choice. Indeed, I’m already looking forward to my cocktail I will be enjoying in December upon winning the bet.

So, are you ready to get the season started?

As always, I welcome your comments.

Go Pats!
