Red Sox Season Ending Loss 2017

Red Sox Season Ending Loss 2017

As a result of the Red Sox season ending loss yesterday; the team will head home until Spring Training. All things considered, yesterday’s game was a great game until the eighth inning.

Red Sox Season Ending Loss

As an avid Red Sox Fan, I thought the team would be swept in three games. Since the team bounced back on Sunday with a quality performance, they forced a Game 4. Because the game was taking place in Boston, I thought the team had a chance to head back to Houston for Game 5.

When Rick Porcello exited the game with the team behind 2 – 1, the team brought in Chris Sale. From here on, the team was able to capture the lead with a home run by Andrew Benintendi off of Justin Verlander. The score was 3 – 2 and remained such until the eighth inning.

So, the trouble began in the eighth inning. Chris Sale was sharp in four innings of relief. When he came out in the 8th inning, he gave up a home run.

Because John Farrell was ejected in the 2nd inning; the bench coach took over. Also, Sale gave up a single. Next, the Interim Manager opted to bring in our closer, Craig Kimbrel. Kimbrel walked a batter and gave up a single and Houston took the lead.

First and foremost, I didn’t think Sale should have been pulled with 2 out. In my opinion, he should have been left in the game to get the final out. When Kimbrel came in and immediately walked a player, I knew the Sox were going to lose.

In addition, the Sox had plenty of missed opportunities. Meanwhile, in the second inning, the Sox had the bases loaded with no outs. Also, in the third inning they had men on base and weren’t able to score a run. Ultimately, Houston was the better team and deserved to win.

Sox Season

As anyone who knows me; knows I’m a die-hard Boston Red Sox Fan. In any case, the Sox season was a lot of hit and misses this year. As a result of the lack of offensive power, I didn’t see this team going very far in the playoffs. When David Ortiz retired, they never replaced his power numbers.

At the same time, I found this team lacking chemistry and consistency. In other words, I didn’t like the drama that came up earlier in the year with Dustin Pedroia and Manny Machado. Also, I didn’t like David Price’s criticism of Dennis Eckersley.

Although this team won the American League Division; I didn’t see this team going very far in the playoffs. So, for a second straight year, the Sox season came to an early end.

In conclusion, I think this team needs a new voice. No doubt, some power bats are crucial for this team to add to their offense. The Sox will have a while off to figure out their needs. Indeed, there is always next year.

As always, I welcome your comments.
