Summer Season Begins June 21, 2017

Summer season begins today, June 21, 2017. With the season beginning, we can expect hotter and longer days. So, now that Summer is upon us, time to plan our activities. For many individuals, Summer is the end of the school year and many businesses have shorter work week schedules.

Summer Season

In the first place, we can enjoy bright and longer days of sunshine. When you’re spending time outdoors, remember to read my Sun Block essentials post and practice safe sun.

Indeed, Summer brings more people outdoors. In addition, you can dress in lighter material and less clothing. It is time to bring out the swimsuits, sunglasses, shorts, tank tops, T-shirts, sundresses, and sandals.

Summer Season Activities

Since many people have time off, plan some fun outdoor activities. First, plan some days for the beach, park and summer barbecues. If you love being on the beach, plan a picnic. In addition, you can bring some water floats. Another great activity to do on a beach is to play beach volleyball or paddle ball. Not only will you have a lot of fun, but you will also be getting exercise.

Also, it is nice to take advantage of the weather and plan a garden party or barbecue. For any music lover, now is the time to go to an outdoor concert. If you live in the Boston area, visit the Blue Hill Bank Pavilion. The Blue Hill Pavilion is a popular Summer concert venue. With the venue’s top name music performers, sound system and cool ocean breeze, plan to attend this great event in the city.

Summer Season – Food

Since you will be outside more often, make sure you have a lot of water available. Also, pack healthy food snacks for the beach or park.

In the warmer weather, you can find many food truck events happening. Visit my Boston’s best food truck vendor post for some places to try.

Of course, you will be wearing less clothing so you will want to look your best. So, stock up on fruit and vegetables. Because Farmers Markets are everywhere, find one to visit and stock-up on healthy food choices. With all the fresh organic fruit and vegetables available, create an enticing entrée or appetizer.

Since this is also the time of year for barbecues, grill salmon or turkey burgers instead of traditional hamburgers. Also, grill fish, vegetables, and potatoes.

Conclusion

Since the Summer season seems to go by quickly, take advantage of longer days. Summer is known as a time for rebirth for animals and plants, so get outside and experience nature.

As always, I look forward to your comments.

Happy Summer!
