Heart Matters

Heart Matters

Heart matters!  Beauty is a combination of a healthy body and a happy heart.   Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both Men and Women.

In fact, every minute death occurs from this disease.  It is an important motivator to make the battle against this disease personal.  Changing life long habits is important for a healthy and long life.    Stress is a fact of life.  A steady stream of pressure from work, a partner, or family can take its toll.  Stress is a huge factor in heart disease.  The key to managing stress is to build strength to guard you against negative effects.

Rise and Shine.  Start your day with meditation.  Meditation is known to lower blood pressure.  Exercise early in the morning.  A class or a quick workout in the morning will improve your health.  Yoga is another suggestion in both meditation and exercise.  Regular Yoga can lower cholesterol.  Have Vitamin C in the morning either in a vitamin, juice, or fruit.   Vitamin D is also a preventive against cardiovascular disease.

Eat Right, Your Heart Matters

In the afternoon, take a walk on your lunch break.  A good snack is almonds.  Eating almonds is known to lower bad cholesterol.  Reduce highly saturated fats and fast food.  Try to load up on whole grains.  Whole grains are known to reduce the risk of heart disease according to many studies.

After work, exercise.  Exercise or take a fitness class two to three times a week.  People who exercise regularly are less likely to develop heart disease, blood clots, or strokes. On the whole, physical activity is good for you.  Find an activity or sport you like and see the improvement to your stamina.  A good dinner option is fish, turkey, or protein.  Other suggestions that boost your immunity are oysters and food with zinc ingredients.  There are so many new recipe options in vegetables.  I love the spiral processor for vegetables.  Some suggestions that I make regularly are various pasta’ out of carrots, peppers, and zucchini.   Top off your meal with a glass of red wine.  Try to get a good night of sleep.  Sleeping 6 to 8 hours a night is known to improve your mind and health. Find your sweet spot and rest blissfully.

Create an upbeat environment.  By surrounding yourself with happiness and positive thoughts your health will improve. For example, a night on the beach is a great way to unwind.  I especially love the smell of fresh air and the sound of the ocean. In particular, the sound of rain and wind is calming for me.

Relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Your heart matters.  What tips do you use in creating a healthy lifestyle?  Of course, any suggestions or tips you want to share are always welcome.

Take care as February is known as Heart Health Month.

Happy Heart to everyone!
