Met Gala 2016 Fashions

Met Gala 2016 Fashions

Met Gala 2016 Fashions are one of the biggest events on the East Coast the first Monday in May.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual fundraising gala is the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s fashion exhibit.  Of course, this year’s theme set the tone for the fashions since guests show up matching the theme of the exhibit.  This year’s theme is Manus x Machina.  In the same fashion, this exhibit is about designers allowing handmade and machine-made styles to coexist in haute couture and ready to wear.  Additionally, the exhibit hosts more than 150 designs since the 20th century.

Technology and fashion come together this year at this event chaired by Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour.  Annual chairs of this year’s event are  Apple’s Chief Designer Officer, Jonathan Ive, Designers, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquiere, and Miuccia Prada along with Co-Chair Taylor Swift and Idris Elba.

Met Gala 2016 Fashions Hits

Manus x Machina is fashion in an Age of Technology exhibit and this year’s fashions were a representative of the theme with silver, black and white being the prominent colors of the dresses for the night.  One of my personal favorites was Demi Lovato in Moschino. Although, many had her on their worst dress list – I disagree.  Of course, fashion is about creating your own style.  Hence, I thought Demi rocked the look featured below.

Beyoncé’s latex dress with her sleek hair style was a hit.

Couples

Some of the best dressed couples are below.  Jason Stratham and Rosie Huntington Whiteley coupled up in Ralph Lauren attire.

Hannah Davis and Derek Jeter made a handsome couple.

Peek-a-boo

Showing some skin and peek-a-boo was a big trend in fashion the last few years.  Also, there was a big showing of this trend at this event.

Worst Dressed

Some styles on my worst dress list are below.  I didn’t like Alicia Vikander’s combat boots for a red carpet fashion event.  Michelle Williams also wore an outfit with combat boots.  Also, Lady Gaga and Sarah Jessica Parker were also on my worst dressed list.  Moreover, Lady Gaga has been looking old school Hollywood at recent red carpet events and this time she reverted back to prior styles – her loss of pants didn’t work for a fashion event.  Sarah Jessica Parker’s fashion statement below was a miss for me.

Men

Of course, the majority of men were dressed to the nines and looked handsome in their tuxedo’s.

I was not a fan of Will.i.am’s style below.  I didn’t like the tinted visor, nor the embroidery on the sleeves of his tuxedo jacket.

Furthermore, Met Gala 2016 Fashions will go down as one of my least favorite fashion red carpet styles.  Many Models, Singer’s and Actresses who are usually on my best dress list, were at the top of my worst dress list for the 2016 event.

In conclusion, what were some of your favorite Met Gala 2016 Fashions?  Worst dressed Met Gala 2016 Fashions?
