Best Oscar 2017 Red Carpet Fashion

Best Oscar 2017 Red Carpet Fashion

Last night I tuned into E Red Carpet to see the best Oscar 2017 red carpet fashion. The 89th Academy Awards ceremony host is Jimmy Kimmel. Although this is his first time hosting the Oscars, he is not new to hosting award shows.

After all, the Oscar is the granddaddy of award season.

Best Oscar 2017 Fashion

Although it was raining outside of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, actors didn’t let it dampen their arrival. In the first place several Best Actress nominees were early arrivals. Since red was a stand out on prior red carpet award shows, Ruth Negga was an early arrival in a stunning Valentino red dress. Across the country people are standing up for what they believe in and the blue ACLU ribbon was worn by many for the night.

Also, Best Support Actress winner, Viola Davis looked stunning in a red Armani off the shoulder dress.

Emma Roberts and Michelle Williams both looked stunning in their plunging neckline dress.

In the same fashion, the most popular colors seen on the red carpet, were gold and black.  In addition, below Emma Stone’s gold embellished style by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy was fitting for the Best Actress Winner.

Also, Nicole Kidman looked stunning in an Armani Prive dress in nude with a tint of gold.

Another dress that stood out to me was Halle Berry in the one shoulder Versace dress below. However, I was not a fan of her big curls for the night.

Although there were many beautiful dresses as seen from above, one of my favorites was Hailee Steinfeld in her gorgeous floral and ruffle dress below. For me, this dress was hands down the show-stopper of the night and the best Oscar 2017 dress of the night.

Best Dressed Men

Since Men have it easier than the Women, a few Men that hit the mark for the night are below.

Also, Jerry O’Connell stood out to me in his burgundy tuxedo.

In addition, Ryan Gosling who always looks effortlessly cool to me, had on a ruffle shirt with his tuxedo. Although there was a mixed reaction, I thought it was a nice change from a typical white shirt. Your thoughts. Hit or Miss?

Best Dressed Couples

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake were the best dressed couple of the night with their modern yet classic style. Also, Jessica Beal’s Kaufman-Franco dress was beautiful, however I wasn’t a fan of the Tiffany necklace.

Another couple that always looks great is Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend. Also, they always seem to be having a good time as well as very much in love.

Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana dazzled in the fashion department.

Dresses – Hit or Miss

Last years best actress and best supporting actress winner both had on similar styles. Although the styles were youthful and ruffles are a big trend for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 season, many had them on the worst dressed list. Hit or Miss?

Taraji Henson’s blue velvet dress stood out to me. Also, it was on trend with the off the shoulder neckline and high slit. For me, this dress was one of the best Oscar 2017 looks of the night.

Oscars 2017 – Worst Dressed

Dakota Johnson looked much older in the matronly gold dress which did nothing to flatter her figure or complexion.

Janelle Monae’s dress was a mess. While many liked this style and compared it to a dress Halle Berry wore to the Oscars in the past, I thought it had too much going on.

Salma Hayek’s dress was another big disappointment of the night.

Scarlett Johansson’s dress missed the mark for me. Although her innovative hair style was on trend, her pink print with the chunky belt against her skin complexion was awful.

Overall, I found many of the dresses underwhelming and missing the mark for Hollywood’s biggest night of the year.

Conclusion

Since there were many different looks seen on the red carpet, there were hits and misses as seen above. To sum up, I found Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes packed with humor and him bringing in a busload of tourists to the Oscars was a surprise. Although the show started on a high note with Justine Timberlake’s hit, “Can’t Stop The Feeling”, I felt overall the show heavily focused on politics and was at a slow pace.

In conclusion, I found this years Oscar styles overall underwhelming. What were your best Oscar 2017 fashions? Moments? Hits? Misses?
