Boston Bruins Trade Acquisitions 2018

So the Boston Bruins were active with trade acquisitions leading right up to the 3:00 p.m. deadline today. With the Bruins being one of the hottest teams in the NHL; there was no surprise they were active at the deadline. Visit my Red Hot Boston Bruins Team to read more about this year’s team.

Boston Bruins 2018

Because this year’s team has surprised many; they are in it to win the Stanley Cup this year. No doubt, this year’s team is clicking on all cylinders. When one player has an off night, another player picks up the pieces.

Although the team didn’t do well on their recent road trip; most teams have  off-nights. Consequently, the Bruins had several ugly losses on this trip. As they head home to Boston and face the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow, let’s hope they can turn things around.

Bruins Trade Acquisitions

In my opinion, the Bruins made an intrepid move in acquiring Rick Nash from the New York Rangers for forwards, Ryan Spooner, Matt Beleskey, Ryan Lindgren, a first round pick and a seventh round pick for next year. Consequently, I hope this pays off as Nash was in his final season with the Rangers.

In addition to Nash, the Bruins acquired Nick Holden from the Rangers for Rob O’Gara and a third round pick. No doubt, Nash was one of the best players available before the deadline. He had 18 goals and 10 assists with the Rangers prior to the trade. Indeed, at 6’4″ and 211 pounds, he adds size and makes the Bruins second line much more powerful.

Also right before the deadline, the Bruins acquired Tommy Wingels from the Chicago Blackhawks for a fifth round pick. In 57 games with the Blackhawks, Wingels had seven goals and five assists.

Boston Bruins Playoff Push

In summary, the Bruins have hopes of winning the Stanley Cup this year. Consequently, they gave up a lot to get Nash as a short-term rental for a lot of draft picks and players. Will their moves pay off?

As always, I welcome your comments.
