Ian Kuo is the next big superstar! Do you love music? So, La Guardia High School PA is known for artistry and collaboration. In essence, Rising Stars 2021, Behind the Mask is a student-led show that produces quality talent. In fact, many talented alumni have emerged from this school.

In the 90s, I was lucky to meet Cheryl Huang. Cheryl worked as a fashion designer for one of the apparel lines I represented for the New England Territory. To read more about my friendship with Cheryl; be sure to check out my New York City Feels Like Home and Six Day Sedona Arizona Vacations posts.
When Cheryl closed her own design company, she wanted to start a family.
Born in 2004; Ian was raised in Greenwich Village in New York City.
At the age of 4; Ian participated in a Broadway Super Star program known as Applause for 3 -4 years. Meanwhile, at the young age of 5; he learned all about Broadway shows. In middle school, he joined Glee Club.
When Ian turned 12, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in music. As well as his love of singing; Ian also plays both the guitar and piano.
Since an early age; he has worked with various teachers to pursue his dreams.
Moreover, his training in high school in which he is learning how to sing jazz songs with a private vocal teacher. In addition, he is now writing a lot of his own music as well as he has recently learned how to edit videos and create websites.
Also, Ian speaks the following languages.
- English
- Mandarin
- Spanish
Since this is Ian’s last year in High School; he is presently looking at prestigious colleges and universities which his plans are to major in music technology.
Ultimately, his goal is to become a music producer.

There were over 200 audition submissions. And, some of the performances have 2 or more people in a group. Namely, these performances included singing, dancing, and playing an instrument.
With so many auditions; 40 were chosen and have all won a spot and were chosen for the cast list of Rising Stars 2021 – Behind the Mask.
