Celebrate Women’s Health Week

When you think about your well being, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? So, this event starts on Mother’s Day. And, what better way to begin taking care of ourselves. Whether you’re a mother, daughter or aunt; the United States Department of Health and Human Services leads this event to have women become the best version of themselves.

Are you ready to start making changes to your health? In the first place, not only is physical health important, but also our emotional and mental health. To read more, be sure to check out my Support Mental Health Month post.

At the same time, it is important to take the time to schedule a health and wellness check-up with your primary care physician. Since, this is Skin Cancer Awareness month, make sure you schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. To read more about the importance of a skin check-up; be sure to read my Melanoma Monday May 6 2019 post.

Now that Spring has arrived and we’re heading into warmer temperatures and longer days; why not take advantage of spending time outside? Participate in an exercise class. Not much for going to the gym or an exercise class – don’t fret. You can still be active by taking a long walk on the beach. Or, go hiking. Another great form of exercise is bicycling, playing volleyball or tennis.

Another important part of your health is to eat a healthy diet. Because this month is also Mediterranean Diet Month, start a diet. To learn more about this diet, be sure to visit my Mediterranean Healthy Diet Overview post. Whether you choose this diet or another diet; there are many healthy food options available.
